First Nations Taking Jurisdiction Over Child and Family Services
DESIGN. FUND. COMMUNITY
Bill C-92 created a historic opportunity for First Nations communities to assert jurisdiction over their own child and family services. But legislation alone doesn’t build a system. Communities needed a vision, a strategy, a law of their own, and a multi-year plan to make self-determination real.
Chris served as project manager, working directly with communities and key stakeholders to develop the governance structures, operational plans, and implementation roadmap needed to begin the transition. Community engagement wasn’t a checkbox - it was the foundation every decision was built on.
The result: communities equipped with the tools, plans, and governance structures to take on jurisdiction over their own child and family services - on their terms.
